The Easy PCOS Diet Cookbook FussFree Recipes for Busy People on the Insulin Resistance Diet Tara Spencer 9781641520676 Books Reviews
- None of these recipes sounded very appetizing, and many called for ingredients that are rather expensive or hard to find. But the worst part was how they were organized. For instance, some recipes would say they only take 5-10 minutes, but one of the ingredients would be a sauce or pesto that is explained in the back of the book, that could take upwards of 30 minutes to prepare. Additionally, the page number for these sauces is not listed in the recipes where they're used, forcing you to either mark up the book, or constantly use the appendix to figure out what page it's on.
Some recipes would also call for ingredients that are already prepared without including their preparation in the recipe itself, nor taking their preparation into consideration in how long the dish takes to make. As someone who both dislikes cooking and has very little time to dedicate to it, I did not appreciate that the prep times were so dishonest. - Author lists gluten as a food "to restrict or avoid," but her recipes include sprouted grain bread, which contains gluten. If you're celiac or gluten sensitive, don't trust the recipes blindly.
- I really really wanted other like this book. There is a lot of good information which is why I gave it 2 stars. The recipes are not good... Almost all of them I have tried taste like I'm eating a big batch of unseasoned tomatoes/onions/peppers. Far too many of the recipes have zero (or close to zero) spices or herbs which really sucks because there are so many that have positive benefits. I love good fresh foods, but the combinations did not taste good. There are some recipies that are yummy, but I am disappointed overall.
- This book is filled with information. She not only shares the recipes but goes over what foods to eat the most, eat in moderation, and avoid. She talks a little about her story and struggles with PCOS. The recipes are from scratch (a must for our family), including the sauces which she has the recipes for at the end.
- The book has a lot of great recipes and material. It helped me learn more about this condition and ways to help improve my quality of life.
- I bought this for my sister after she was diagnosed with PCOS. She has been feeling some pretty unmanageable symptoms and I think this gave her some hope with controlling it. She is not big into cooking so this cookbook was really her speed. This was a great buy.
- Most of the recipes in this cookbook are great for a PCOS diet. The flavoring is off in some of them and we had to make some adjustments but overall the book has pretty good suggestions. I am especially fond of the roasted red pepper chicken.
- The recipes in the book are pretty easy, nothing too complicated. However, some of the ingredients are very difficult to find unfortunately. It would also be nice if there was a serving size on the recipes instead of just “serves 4â€.
