"I really like this guide to casinos. It's the first time I have come across it for a trip that I took in May 2013. After seeing the valuable information in it I plan on buying a new copy every year now. In addition the the coupons that are in the book it's a great resource for learning about casinos not only in Las Vegas, which is a great deal of the book, but in every other state that has them. The stats that are in there complied in one place are VERY handy. It's a very well written book and you can tell it's put together by folks who have been doing it a while.
The first quarter of the book is composed of explaining casino games, the rules, how to play and also which games to look for and ones to stay away from. Many may not realize that a game at one casino can favor the "house" much more than a game at another one in which the player has more of a chance to win. They do a good job of going through all of that.
This is a book that has a ton of valuable information for both the novice and experienced gambler. It's updated every year so most of the information will be accurate. The value you get from the book plus the deal that you get from Amazon make this a great purchase.
The coupons in the back are great too but even without those in there I would still consider this to be a worth while book to own."

- 3 Parts to the book 1) a basic guide to casino games, like blackjack and video poker 2) a guide to physical locations, phone numbers and web sites to every casino in the U.S. 3) coupons.
Most of the coupons are for Las Vegas, and most of those are for the downtown and off the Strip casinos. If you are only going to be on The Strip, this book may not be worth it. If you are staying in downtown Vegas, this book and the coupons are worth the price of the book. - I've been buying Steve's book annually for many years. It's a great asset in saving money and helping you stretch your gambling dollar. For those just getting acquainted with casino gambling and especially Las Vegas, the book explains game rules and protocol, resort fees, using players cards for comps, gambling strategies and more. Although I buy the book for my trips to Vegas, occasionally I find myself visiting Florida, Colorado, or Louisiana and have used coupons there as well.
There are a few things to keep in mind before you buy. Many of the Vegas coupons are for establishments that are not on the strip. If you are staying exclusively on the strip, check the coupon list to be sure you'll save money in the long run. I also use coupons from the Las Vegas Advisor, which offers similar or in some cases identical coupons. Some hotel/casinos will not let you use coupons from both sources on the same day. So if you are planning on double dipping be sure your schedule will allow it.
If you are planning on spending time downtown or if you will have a car to frequent local casinos away from the strip, getting this book is a no-brainer and will easily save you 3 or 4 times its price over a 2 or 3 day trip to Vegas.
Perhaps its greatest value is to get you away from the strip and to those casinos that offer better overall value even without a coupon. - Buy if...
1) You have never bought it before or are a Vegas newbie. Some of the info is decent, coupons aside.
2) You're staying near Fremont St or plan on driving a car around while you're there. I've had this book in the past and enjoyed it more than I did this year. The coupon quality has gone downhill over the years, and most of the best coupons are off-strip or downtown. Considering all of the properties that now charge for parking, and to avoid drinking/driving and accidents in a rental, we took Uber, Lyft, and the Deuce bus everywhere this past trip. I think I only used 2-3 gambling coupons. Most of the other coupons aren't worth it because similar deals can be found online or elsewhere. - Just got back from Vegas.I haven't been in many years,so it was something of a ahock at the changes. Lucky for me, I had come upon this little gem of a book. Ckock full of helpful information, tips and coupons for free and reduced items. Many buy one get one free meals, shows, and exhibits. Helpful tips on transportation. Lists not only Vegas, but every casino in the country. Definitely a must,if you're planning trip to any casino town.
- Excellent book. We have been buying the AMERICAN CASINO GUIDE for many years, mostly for the coupons to casinos in Las Vegas. Meal coupons alone more than pay for the purchase price. We have also found the information to be very useful in visiting casinos in Las Vegas. The only missing information is the type PLAYERS CARD needed in each casino. Otherwise GREAT INVESTMENT..
- I used to get Vacation Thoughts coupons but since I don't know how to get those anymore I get these, and these are about as good. The only other ones I think might possibly be as good as these are the las vegas advisor if they still have them. This book is definitely worth the money. I recommend it highly. I just bought the book and I've already used two of the coupons. Living near Nevada I'm very lucky
- I've purchased the American Casino Guide every year we've went to Vegas, which averages out to every five years or so. I only purchase it for the coupons. There are much better travel guides, if that is what you are looking for. Every year, the travel guide portion gets larger and the coupon portion gets smaller. And what coupons are present are poorer in quality than ever. I'm very disappointed in this year's book and won't be purchasing again. I think I'll stick with Las Vegas Advisor in the future.
